Located in the beautiful Bitterroot mountains of Montana, our little farm is starting by breeding registered Nigerian Dwarf goats with goal of creating great homestead, family dairy goats for our community.

About Golden Shepherd Farm

Our farm is just starting out and we are thrilled to introduce our Nigerian Dwarf herd to you! Our goals in breeding these lovely little goats are to produce high-producing, easily-milkable, and friendly Nigerian Dwarves with the conformation and genetics to stay healthy and happy for their entire lives. We’d like to set a new standard for homestead Nigerian Dwarves by breeding for performance in a homestead animal. Making it easier for you to have delicious goat milk at home and enjoying the company and ease of care these smaller goats provide!

Additionally, we are looking to make healthy goats for healthy families. We want all our animals to live lives free from as many toxins as possible! We currently do not vaccinate our goats with the CD/T or other vaccines but instead have alternative treatments on hand (such as tetanus antitoxin) to ensure there is less buildup of resistance over time. We will be using Land of Havilah herbal dewormer once our Montana spring hits to battle parasites. We feed organic grain and alfalfa pellets and hope to feed organic hay starting in fall 2025.

Currently, we do plan to milk test through the ADGA, participate in linear appraisal when we get an opportunity to do so, and actively participate in ADGA shows to learn about what we can do better with our Nigerian Dwarves and prove their capabilities.
